We are delighted to have welcomed Nurse McGourty to our team in September 2020. Laura has a wealth of experience and is now completing a degree in Practice Nursing through the University of Ulster. We can now offer Practice Nurse cover to the practice 5 days per between between both Nurs McGourty and Nurse Jones. If you have any questions regarding any chronic diseases, please ring our office to arrange a phone call.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and is a member of the Royal College of Nursing. Nurse Lecky is a vital link between the GP's and our patients. She will see you for your chronic disease reviews, baby vaccinations and smears. Her wealth of experience offers a fantastic support portal. If you have any questions that she can help with, please ring the practice and our team will help organise. 

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. Debbie runs our Patient Testing clinics for patients taking warfarin, methotrexate and other medication that requires close monitoring.

Practice Manager - Rachael Will (BSc Hons)

The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finances, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

OUR OFFICE TEAM

Our highly skilled office team help to navigate your care pathway at the surgery.  Gillian is our Office Team Leader and is supported by: Charmian, Denise, Karen, Alison, Nicola, Senga, Laura, Lindsay & Leigh.

Our office team  provides an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Our office team make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries,, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. All our team members are highly trained to help our patients with their queries. Other tasks that the team carry out include helping manage the vast amount of paperwork required to run a GP practice which include dealing with insurance reports and managing vaccination schedules.

Shannon Higgins BSc PA

Shannon is the first Physician Associate at Hillsborough Medical Practice. This quickly emerging role within Primary Care is developing rapidly. Shannon has a background is Biomedical Science and then completed her Physician Associate studies at the University of Ulster. The role of a PA is  extremely varied and can including triaging acutely unwell patients, seeing patients routinely, managing chronic diseases and all aspects of patient assessment.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
